Jami & Jeff

Jami & Jeff got married at The Lighthouse on the Chelsea Piers on February 23rd. It was a beautiful winter evening wedding with candles everywhere, which made for an elegant look and great ambiance. They danced their first dance to one of my favorite Jack Johnson songs, "Better Together", which I thought was a really fun and unique choice. At one point, a yacht floated by with a dance party on it, which was maybe one of the most surreal visuals i've seen at a wedding--a whole crowd of people bopping in rhythm, just floating by in the night....i wonder what song was playing...

Mike & Alex

The thing I love most about my job is the emotion that Karenscape wedding photos evoke. Our days in the studio are often broken up by unplanned critiques that leave five of us huddled around one screen ooh-ing, ah-ing, laughing and sometimes even getting a bit misty-eyed at certain photos.

Mike & Alex were married at the Boat House in Central Park on January 18th of this year and editing their photos today made my day. I hope this small preview makes yours too.

Enjoy,

Jackie

Win a Free Wedding!

Karenscape Photographers is thrilled to announce the official launch of the "How I Found The One" Contest. We'll be giving away a FREE complete wedding photography package every four months in 2008. Karen will personally shoot all three contest winner's weddings, a value of $9700 per wedding, for FREE.

But this is not a random raffle.

We are searching for the most romantic, serendipitous, poignant, funny, and inspiring stories of how you found the one. Tell us the amazing tale of how you crossed paths with your fiancé in this big crazy world, and you'll have a chance to win a free wedding. Make us cry. Make us laugh. Make us hope.

To win you must create a 3-minute-or-less video relaying your story, and upload your video to YouTube.com. Be as creative as you'd like!

For full contest entry details and instructions, please visit www.karenscape.com and click on the "Win a Free Wedding" link. We're looking forward to hearing your story!

Special Thanks to my friend Mackenzie for posting about our contest on her very cool bridal blog Something Old, Something New. A shout out also to Vane at Brooklyn Bride for spreading the word about our contest, and to Janie Medley, a great florist in the DC/Baltimore area who also talked about our contest on her blog, The Bride's Cafe.

Sara & Elan

this was definitely one of the most beautiful weddings i've photographed in a long time--not because it was aesthetically spectacular, but because it was a wedding oozing with soul, spirit, life! the dancing and wild, high-energy singing was unmatched, and bordered a mosh pit at some moments--almost dangerous, but quite a thrill! like the orthodox jewish wedding maria shot recently, i don't know that i can actually put the experience into words, and i hope that the photos are indeed worth a thousand...

Maria shoots Lea & Ofer

Maria photographed Lea and Ofer for us this past weekend. As you'll see from the photos, she rocked it. Here's what she had to say:

Wow, what a wedding. I haven't had such an adrenaline rush photographing since...Columbia 2003, when I was shooting as the town was being bombed.

Lea and Ofer's wedding was a wonderfully explosive combination of tradition, elegance, emotion, family and the love of this hip couple spilling over the party. I couldn't possibly describe it with words, I hope the images will give you a taste of the intensity and beauty I witnessed yesterday.

Thank you Lea and Ofer, it was an honor...and it only took me one day of recovery to be able to move my muscles again;-)

Welcome Mike!

We're pleased to announce our latest talent--the skilled photographer and generally awesome fella, Mike. Where once he was Heather's right-hand man, he's now risen to shine in his own right as one of Karenscape Photographers' first shooters. Here's my favorites from his most recent wedding for us:
